Fossils is a progressive rock album released in 2026 by Italian composer and multi-instrumentalist Giorgio Bussolin.
The tracks draw inspiration from ten fossil plants whose descendants — though profoundly transformed — still survive today.
This botanical resilience mirrors the human experience and humanity’s capacity to overcome its darkest moments. From this stems the pressing need to reflect, today more than ever, on the risks posed by environmental devastation and global conflicts.
Welcome to the world of Fossils: a journey through time, memory, and resilience.

What a fantastic album! So much variety!
It won’t leave you indifferent.
(The Bird Inside Project, Spain, september 2026)
“Sagenopteris Phillipsii”, a surprising and constantly changing piece of prog rock, opening with a jazz-infused intro of piano and strings before switching into guitar driven prog, bright and upbeat, warmly melodic and technical without being overblown.
(Loud Enough Magazine, UK, september 2026)
“Fossils” proves to be an album of rare conceptual and executive depth, fitting seamlessly into the most refined and adventurous trajectories of contemporary instrumental and Progressive music.
(Massimo Salari, “Non solo prog rock”, Italy, september 2026)
What can we learn from what has managed to survive? Giorgio Bussolin does not offer an easy answer. Instead, he develops the idea through changes, layers and different musical perspectives. That complexity gives the concept its coherence and keeps the music engaging.
(Luca Paoli, “Redàpolis Music Blog”, Italy, september 2026)
A captivating musical journey that showcases Giorgio’s creativity, musicianship, and unique artistic vision. If you enjoy discovering original and thought-provoking music, Fossils is definitely worth a listen.

Everything on this record is measured, balanced, and delicate (in terms of composition, performance, and production alike). I risk getting lost in the various layers of a sensational album — so rich that it requires several careful listens before gradually revealing a wealth of sound details and original arrangements. In short: something I had never heard before.
